Attic Clearance: What to Expect, What We Take and How to Prepare
Attics are where things go to be forgotten. Suitcases, cots, Christmas decorations, the boxes from the last move, a previous owner's off-cuts. Our attic clearance service exists because getting it all back down through a hatch is awkward, dusty and occasionally dangerous.
You don't need to empty it first
Unlike some companies, we don't ask you to remove everything you want to keep before we arrive. Tell us what you're looking for and we'll bring things down one by one so you can check them. Keep, donate, recycle, dispose — you decide on the day.
How the job runs
- We protect the stairs, landing and hallway with covers.
- One of the crew goes up; items are passed down through the hatch and carried straight out to the truck.
- Anything you want to keep is set aside where you can see it.
- We remove loose timber, old boards, broken items and general debris left by previous work.
- We hoover the landing and hall before we leave.
How long does it take?
Most attics take two to four hours. A converted attic bedroom full of furniture, or a very large loft, can take a little longer.
What we can and can't take
Furniture, boxes, bags, suitcases, toys, books, old appliances, water tanks, boards and debris are all fine. We can't take asbestos (occasionally found in older insulation boards or old textured coatings), chemicals or gas cylinders — if you think there's something like that up there, tell us when you book.
Good times to book an attic clearance
Before insulation upgrades or an attic conversion, before putting the house on the market, when clearing a parent's home, or simply when the storage space you're paying for in the attic is full of things you'll never use again.
